On Tuesday 20th August club members met at Horton Road Legion to present Jim Long with his Honorary Life Membership certificate. Jim is a long (sic) serving member of the club, being involved in module construction track laying, scenery and building construction. Primarily working on his DC home layout, Jim nevertheless spent hours helping club members with whatever part of their module they needed assistance. It is a delight to recognise his long time commitment to the hobby and our club.

Picture here shows President Bruce Henwood presenting Jim, accompanied by his daughter Cherri with his certificate.

Membership in the Society gives hobbyists an opportunity to share in, and benefit from, the knowledge and skills of a group. You don't need to be an expert and we all have gaps in our abilities that can benefit from working with others. It is also a way to socialize and enjoy the hobby with a variety of people who have similar interests. Whether you choose to build modules, help with smaller projects, or simply join in the set-up and operation of the club layout at events, there are many ways to reap the benefits of membership. Participation is a key to learning and helping others enjoy model railroading.

We have four levels of membership,

Adult members in good standing may vote at all club meetings and are subject to event fees and assesments,
Family membership, only one member of the family may vote at any meeting, and the family is subject to event fees and assesments (which may be prorated)
Youth members may not vote and are subject to event fees and assesments (which may be prorated)
Honorary Life Members are not subject to annual dues, but are subject to event fees and assesments. They, because of their significant contribution to the club, maintain their right to vote.

Fees and dues are set annually at the Annual General Meeting and details will be provided as a prospective member proceeds with their application to join. Historically, a Family membership has been under $100 per year.

The application process is not difficult nor intrusive. Simply fill out an Application Form and bring it with you to a Club event.
